Gambling has two basic characteristics that contribute to its
popularity. One is the entertainment factor and this in turn is
combined with the prospect of winning. The two features in
combination, are the cornerstones of many gambling games, including
slots.
That this concept already over 2,000 years ago has been discovered
and at the time the first form of slot machines, which have come
mostly known as slot machines, appeared to know the least. In
general, the first slot machine is dated to 1896. Because at that
time the German mechanic Charles Fey developed a mechanical slot
machine with the name "Liberty Bell".
He developed the very popular device in San Francisco, where he was living
at the time. But the truly first slot machine was in ancient Greece
in order constructed by priests. Developed by engineers mechanical
oracle was called "The will of the gods". As today's slot machines,
the device had the task of entertaining the people of Greece and the
former uniqueness while also amaze.
In addition, priests could thanks to this first slot machine to
their temple fund fill quickly. But unlike today's slot machines,
the device was less a game than actually a kind of oracle, which
statements about the supposed future of the user said. Similar
devices are still to be found to October festivals and other events.
It is clear that even at very early times these machines grew in
popularity. Over time, the resourceful people and the technologies
available increased. As mentioned already in 1886 a further more
advanced device was developed by Charles Fey. Three years later, the
brothers developed a Caille slot machines with the name "Black Cat".
But the three-reel-equipped device from Fey has enjoyed great
popularity and was copied around the world several times. The
development in this direction was the basis for today's slot machine
industry.
In 1907, Herbert Mills developed a new device called "Operator
Bell", which briefly made it to the masses and was sold. These
devices were mainly situated in small bars and gambling halls. The
"one-armed bandits" - as the forerunner of Fey was also called - are
found in the lavish casinos of Las Vegas. In the following years
many different models have been developed, which, however, brought
no major changes. These include the automatic "Rotamint" from 1952.
Another milestone in the development of slot machines was the year
1963, in which the company developed "Bally Technologies, a new
device called" Money Honey ". The special thing about this was that
it was completely electro-mechanically operated. In the following
years have been increasingly developed progressive slot machines.
Meanwhile, there are already models that feature a touch screen and
be completely controlled by them.
